The vineyards cover an area of 30 hectares (74 acres), with parcels specialized in Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon – as well as other selected varietals, such as Petit Verdot and Alicante. Since we are blessed with a strategic position, near the border of different wine areas, we are able to produce both Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG, in addition to our Supertuscan IGT.

The farm
Carpineta Fontalpino is the ancient denomination of our land, a name that reveals the history behind the place: carpineta means, in fact, “hornbeams spot” (a plant whose leaf has a silver back), while fontalpino recalls an ancient spring, once framed by pine trees, that is located in our land.
The Farm itself is situated at the foot of Montaperti hill, that in 1260 was the stage of the memorable battle between the municipalities of Siena and Florence. Even the poet Dante Alighieri recalls the event in his renowned lines of the Divine Comedy: «The slaughter and great havoc that colour’d Arbia’s flood with crimson stain», he sings, that ended with the long-celebrated victory of the Siennese people over the rivals of Florence.
