The farm
Podere i Prati lays on the sunny and panoramic eastern slope of the Val d’Orcia valley, in the district of Chianciano Terme, between the natural protected area of Pietraporciana and Lucciolabella, confining with the districts of Sarteano and Pienza. It faces a wide area that includes three places which were added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites: la Val D’Orcia, Pienza and the Via Francigena.
The accommodation
The farmhouse is divided in two habitations: "il Gelso (2 bed plus sofa bed) and "il Glicine"(6 bed) which can become one unique holiday home.
In 2007 the house was renovated respecting eco principles wherever possible. Sustainability and the use of environmentally friendly materials were always foremost in our minds.
We try to save precious resources such as water and electricity by using energy mostly generated by our solar cells and by using the rainwater we collect to irrigate our vegetable garden.
Activities and surroundings
From this optimal location you can easily see the lonely and fairy-tale Radicofani, or the magnificient Amiata Mountain or you can go and visit the quiet and unique Campiglia d’Orcia, the tiny and untouched Contignano, Castiglion d’Orcia with its pure helmet located around the fortress (Rocca), Bagno Vignoni, with its famous and magic hot springs, the peaceful village of San Quirico d’Orcia with its fine architectures. You can’t see but you can quickly reach the most famous towns of this area such as Montepulciano and Pienza.

Products
The olive trees as well as the production of our organic olive oil “olio extra vergine di oliva biologico D.O.P. Podere I Prati” are located in the UNESCO world heritage site “Val d’Orcia”, which extends from the hills south of Siena to Monte Amiata, in Tuscany.
This region is not only famous for its excellent olive oils and wines, but also for its historical importance in art and culture during the Italian renaissance. Our olive grove is located at approximately 500 meters above sea level. This altitude combined with the central Italian climate creates a perfect environment for cultivating olive trees, with a greatly reduced risk to plants and fruits.
The ideal conditions therefore make it unnecessary to use chemicals on our olives. Neither our land nor our olive trees have been treated with any chemical products for over 40 years. We continue to cultivate our land and produce olive oil according to European organic standards.
